"Don't bother because you get over worked , underpaid and ontop of this you eill het intimidated by the manager and told that you can be replaced when your working your hardest because its not fast enough for them. Also i would like to add that when you work here be prepared have terrable managers. Also theft is very popular here too. I had to give up my monday shifts because i would always come home with headaches and would be very wired that i wouldn't be able to sleep until 4 in the morning and being a student i would usually be wreaked the next day in class. I started to develop heart issuses from also working the closing shifts because they only put you on the floor and expect a three man job done in your shift time frame. Also it started affecting my mental state snd i would always be angry. Eventually i started leaving an hour earlier because i was physically and mentally falling appart. To sum this up i am glad to have given up my monday closing shifts and i would never take that type a shift again "

"I worked in Walmart marketing for over 5 years. Generally, people are kind and respectful. The company prides themselves on this “respect for the individual” and I feel that is true. For such a large organization, it’s more entrepreneurial than I thought it would be. If you have an idea to improve an idea or process, you can probably make it happen. Leadership visibility is how you get promoted. If you get a supportive manager, they’ll help you figure out how maneuver within the company and raise your visibility in such a large organization, if that’s what you want. That said, there is a lot of turnover, as well as frequent reorgs and leadership changes (I experienced at least 1 reorg/leadership switch a year, sometimes more). That got to be a bit much, and the constant pivots felt less like adaptability and more like lack of long-term vision. "

"I have done well at Home Office and was promoted within 18 months, however, during the recruiting process I was only quoted from the low point to the mid point of the pay band thinking this was the full band. I would have negotiated a much higher salary had I known this. You have to be an advocate for yourself if you're wanting to move through the ranks, you cannot count on managers to help you navigate this. I love the people I work with. I feel that my peers genuinely care for you and your wellbeing."

"It is not easy to work reasonable hours conducive to a healthy family/work/life balance with Walmart. The company’s expectations of what one person can reasonably do in a work day is completely out of line with reality. Walmart burns its salaried and hourly employees out. Beware. The company is more in touch with their contribution profit/$ than the mental health of their employees. Everyone is simply a number. If one is lucky to work for home office, Silicon Valley corporate locations or Jet office, health insurance is good, however anywhere else the insurance is a high deductible mess! They do offer great schooling benefits! All you pay is $90 a term—but keep your fingers crossed you don’t get laid off while you’re attending. Walmart is in constant restructure mode and it’s hard to feel secure when you hear of its substantial company layoffs almost monthly. Unless working for Walmart is a life goal or necessary for survival, do yourself, your family and your health a favor— keep scrolling."

"Walmart headquarters has instituted a completely discretionary pay for performance system. I have raised repeatedly that studies have shown that these types of discretionary systems disproportionately harm women and minorities yet I got no response from HR. My VP is openly sexist with zero repercussions. Look at the number of female leaders who have left the company in recent years. "

"We're past the "ship is sinking" alerts, we're floating out in the sea with no life vest. It's not worth it (in the technology sector), it's especially not worth the move to middle of nowhere Bentonville, AR. If they're pouring so much money into a new campus it's because so many people have left after joining and realizing what they've gotten into (in addition to the constant mass layoffs we've had for the last 6 or 7 years). Everyone is beyond stressed and disappointed, it's not what it used to be since the layoffs began. The few women that work in tech are surrounded by men (vendors and WM associates alike) which sadly, the majority (60/40) are creeps so you have to watch your back. I used to love working here, sad to say I don't recommend it at all anymore."

"Schedules are made three weeks out. Whether you can get days off or not depends on the manager. Some managers will approve days as long as you put them in 3 or more weeks early. Other managers don't care how long ago you put them in, they will deny them. Also days off are not consistent. One week you may have two days back to back, another your days are split. Due to inconsistencies in scheduling off days, you may be required to work up to seven days in a row. "

"In order to work for this corporate giant you have to have a very thick skin. They let you know all the time you are a dime a dozen and easily replaced. You have to be willing to put family life on hold because it's very hard to get time off when you want/need it. The upside of this company is it's fairly easy to move up the corporate ladder in a reasonable amount of time."

Beware of old timers who have been with the company for decades and not bothered to upgrade analytic skills or learn to work in a diverse environment. Accessibility to senior leadership is high and a big plus. Stay connected and build relationships and you can go places."
