Apple is looking for a Product Design Engineer to be part of Apple's Product Design Group in Shanghai or Shenzhen in China.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about engineering and thrives on innovation.
The role will require the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with demanding schedule requirements across a large cross functional team. A proven ability to deliver solid design solutions while balancing multiple priorities is key. Experience closely working with suppliers & cross function team is important as well. The engineer in this role will be very comfortable with applying scientific method and have be able to apply or create the process through which they can solve complex problems.","responsibilities":"Design and develop tight-tolerance mechanical components for iPhone product systems.
Create and implement test and validation infrastructure for DOE plans.
Characterize mechanical components and manufacturing assembly processes.
Support new product engineering builds by driving on-site issue resolution.
Conduct failure analysis on build issues to identify root causes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to implement effective corrective actions for build issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic design skills: tolerances analysis, design for assembly (DFA), design for manufacturing (DFM), simple fixture design, understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC), understanding of metrology (basic knowledge of measurement systems)
Experience in design cycle from concept through manufacturing and a history of engaging with vendors to yield successful parts/assemblies
Experience in designing mechanical components for high volume manufacturing - injection molded parts, sheet metal components, die-cast and machined parts
Experience in team work with Contract Manufacturing Partners
Familiarity with AI application, programming and app development is a strong plus.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Masters degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion, creativity
Proficient English communication skills in both written and verbal
Engineering fundamentals: statics, strength of materials, material science, heat transfer
Computer aided design (CAD) skills: 3D CAD experience required (NX preferred)
Design intelligence: mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, diligence in finding the best solution for each design challenge, attention to detail
Interested in traveling up to 50% throughout a year
