Until fairly recently, most self-love advice seemed to be coming from men, and it often sounded as if they were often talking at me, not to me.  So, I started collecting advice on self-love, self-esteem, and self-affirmation – from women, to women. The quotes sound different to me than the advice from men. They sound more empathetic, empowering, encouraging – and ring true!

Like laughter, self-love is best shared, and we can all use reminders to be our own best friend. I have printed a few and posted them on my bathroom mirror.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from writers, actors, musicians, politicians, and designers, all women, including one from my mother and one from me. Which one is your favorite?
