The gaming industry may, for the most part, be largely dominated by men, but Zynga is certainly no boys’ club. The women who work there attest to the fact that the company - which develops popular social games such as Words With Friends and FarmVille - has demonstrated its commitment to attracting and retaining female talent. Nearly 40% of the team of developers who worked on a recent game were women, including team lead and Zynga General Manager Nicole Opas, who values and advocates for female leadership.
It’s no surprise that women enjoy working at Zynga and that they would recommend the company to female job seekers. If you’re worried about taking time off when you have a child, Zynga’s got you covered. New mothers can enjoy 26 continuous weeks of paid maternity leave (in addition to 12 unpaid weeks) and fathers get 12 weeks of paid paternity leave. A Zynga employee who reviewed her work experience on Fairygodboss writes that the company offers the “Best maternity benefits in the industry,” adding that there’s a “solid work-life balance.”
In addition to developing and maintaining a welcoming culture for its female employees, Zynga actively seeks female talent. The company’s process for recruiting includes diversity initiatives, and employees can take advantage of internal employee networking and mentorship/sponsorship programs.
One employee, who rated her overall job satisfaction level at a 5 out of 5, shared on Fairygodboss that Zynga is “one of the best companies to work for as a woman!”
Another praised Zynga for its commitment to ensuring that women are well-supported and encouraged to take leadership roles. “Zynga has an incredible culture for women,” she writes. “Women are encouraged to take leadership positions, we have women-focused events and mentorship opportunities, work/life balance is fantastic, the culture here is family friendly with plenty of events onsite for children, maternity leave is unbeatable (26 weeks paid!).”
Sounds pretty appealing, right? Zynga is hiring for positions in San Francisco, Toronto, New York and Chicago.
Fairygodboss is committed to improving the workplace and lives of women.
