At Target, our team rallies around a single purpose: to help all families discover the joy of everyday life.
That purpose and our inclusion of “all” directly connects to our inclusivity value as a company. We champion a more inclusive society through creating an inclusive guest experience and work environment, ensuring we have a diverse workforce and leveraging our influence to drive positive impact on society.
We celebrate and honor the contributions of women at Target. Those contributions are at the very root of our success, and our female leaders, team members, partners and suppliers drive the ideas and experiences — from the products on our shelves to the work behind the scenes — that make the Bullseye go ’round. Whether it’s developing team members through our Women’s Business Council, supporting women-owned brands during Women History Month, or providing expanded benefits like debt-free education, our investment in women is reflected in the success of #TeamTarget.
We are advancing the progress of women every year. Since 2019, we increased representation for women of color in exempt roles by 23%. By the end of 2020, our workforce had close to or above 50% women at all levels. We increased our promotion of women to senior leadership levels by 17%. The promotion of women of color to senior leadership levels has more than doubled. Nearly half of our stores are run by women, and women comprise 50% of our Leadership Team and one third of our Board of Directors.
Great Place to Work, the National Association for Female Executives, AnitaB.org and more have recognized Target in recent years as one of the best companies for women to work for.
