  • Recommend to Women?

Coming in at an executive level. Women don't seem to move up as quickly as men.

I worked for Turner for almost 7 years and largely had a wonderful experience. As a Black woman there were several role models in senior leadership - who were female, Black, or both. Turner has many affinity groups to create networks outside of one's org, such as Turner Women Today and Black Professionals @ Turner. There are many learning and development opportunities, but it is up to the individual to take advantage of them.

There have been significant cut backs at Turner in the last year, in addition to laying off nearly 20% of the staff from top to bottom, nearly completely replacing their executive leadership team, they laid off several key women advocates, canceled their internal women leadership program, and cut back their training and membership budgets for women leadership programs.

Like many media companies, Turner struggles to increase the number of women in their senior ranks. They do a reasonable job in hiring, but not in growing, promoting and retaining.
