Fisher Investments is a global fee-only investment adviser with $97 billion under management; our clients include over 175 large institutions and 45,000 high-net-worth individuals*. We don’t come from Wall Street, nor do we believe we fit in with most of the finance industry, and we’re proud of that. We work for a bigger purpose—bettering the investment universe. Putting service back in financial services is our company’s calling, our mission, the reason we exist. For us, there is nothing more important than helping our clients reach their financial goals. We’re devoted to continuous learning, constantly exploring new ways to adapt and evolve, all so we can deliver more for our clients. This commitment has shaped every aspect of our business, and it’s the main reason why our employees love coming to work every day: We’re driven by better.

    • Name

      Seji Alexander

    • Position

      Investment Counselor Team Leader

      San Mateo, CA

Seji started her career in 2005 as a Financial Representative at Fidelity Investments. She set a goal to get closer to portfolio management and would go on to join Kayne Anderson Rudnick Investment Management, where she served as an Investment Advisor Associate and gained greater exposure to the RIA world. After relocating to the Bay Area to get married in late 2009, Seji learned about Fisher Investments and started at the firm as a Client Account Coordinator in 2010.

By 2011, she was named “Client Account Coordinator of the Year”; her managers called her “an account clearing machine” that added tremendous value to internal and external clients’ lives. Later that year, she decided to explore a new business unit and became an Investment Counselor, where she would remain until 2015. For 4 years, she remained a top quartile performer. Seji also actively contributed to team training and mentoring initiatives, exploring ways to improve the client and employee experience by concentrating on team development. Seji is now an Investment Counselor Team Leader, where she manages a team of top-performers who actively manage high touch client relationships.

Seji remains proud of the fact that she represents women in a traditionally male-dominated field. Fisher Investments is a meritocratic environment that heavily promotes from within, which is why she’s always encouraged female finance professionals to look into the firm. She has 2 beautiful children, with another one on the way.

  • Fisher Investments Jill Hitchcock

Meet a Fairygodboss at Fisher Investments

    • Name

      Jill Hitchcock

    • Position

Senior Executive Vice President, US Private Client Group

      San Mateo, CA

Jill has been with Fisher Investments since 1999 and she’s proud of building a career at the same company she was lucky enough to find as an inexperienced college graduate. She’s still surprised Fisher took a shot on her so many years ago! Along the way, she grew up at the firm and her most important accomplishment is raising 2 happy, well-adjusted boys.

Jill is currently Senior Executive Vice President of the US Private Client Group—one of the firm’s four principal business units. In this role, Jill is responsible for all US private client acquisition and service. Jill also regularly presents at client seminars around the country. Throughout her career at Fisher Investments, Jill has served in a wide variety of roles, including Executive Vice President of US Private Client Services, Group Vice President of Human Capital, Group Vice President of Research, Assistant Director of Client Services and Client Service Associate Team Leader.

Outside of work, Jill’s time is spent trying to keep up with her endlessly energetic boys. You can find her coaching tee-ball, perfecting her frisbee skills, hunting for a single obscure Lego piece among thousands, and discussing how to kill the Ender Dragon.

  • Fisher Investments Jessica Smith

Meet a Fairygodboss at Fisher Investments

    • Name

      Jessica Smith

    • Position

      Investment Counselor Lieutenant Vice President

      Camas, WA

After spending nearly 15 years in the banking industry, Jessica needed a change of pace. She knew that she was passionate about managing relationships and delivering exceptional customer service, and kept those priorities close as she searched for a new role. Jessica came to Fisher Investments in 2012, and immediately found her perfect firm fit as an Investment Counselor. It wasn’t long before she moved into a management role within the group. Jessica now serves as Investment Counselor Lieutenant Vice President, leading both human capital and development initiatives for one of the largest divisions in the firm.

While some women are dissuaded by the large population of men in the investment industry, Jessica sees this is a huge, exciting opportunity. On the client side, widows are one of the fastest-growing demographics in the United States, and they often prefer to manage financial matters alongside another woman. On the business side, women tend to be highly relationship-oriented, which can lead to deeper and more long-lasting client relationships. This win-win dynamic is what motivates and inspires Jessica to encourage more women to join her in financial services.

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Portland State University, and an MBA concentrated in leadership from George Fox University. She and her husband are enjoying raising their 2 young boys, who constantly remind them what life is really all about!
