Women have voted, and the results are in: based entirely on employees’ reviews and feedback, Fairygodboss has compiled the 2018 edition of our annual list of Best Companies for Women.
Among the top-rated companies this year are Ultimate Software, ZS, and ADP.
“Our research indicates how important it is for women to be able to hear candidly from other women, so we’re thrilled to be able to share these findings, which are based entirely on how female employees report their work experiences,” says Georgene Huang, Fairygodboss CEO and Co-founder. “These companies and the top-rated CEOs for gender diversity should be proud of what they’re doing to support women in their careers, and we hope this list will inspire others to follow suit.”
Fairygodboss has also introduced three new lists this year, all of which are determined based on employee reviews: Best Tech Companies for Women in 2018, Best Finance Companies for Women in 2018, and Best CEOs for Gender Diversity.
In order to be considered, a company must have received more than 30 reviews on Fairygodboss, and the scores are determined by averaging women’s responses to three standard review questions around overall job satisfaction, equal treatment at work, and whether a reviewer would recommend the company to another woman. The top CEOs for gender diversity list is determined by responses to one of the questions that anyone who leaves a review on Fairygodboss is asked: Do you think your CEO supports gender diversity?

There’s not one simple practice or policy that sets these employers apart, but there are some notable patterns: many of the companies on these lists have set diversity goals aimed at achieving more gender parity in their workforces, they tend to have better-than-average paid parental leave policies, most offer flexible arrangements to help employees balance their work and personal lives, and many have better-than-average representation of women in leadership roles.
Fairygodboss is devoted to improving the workplace for women by increasing transparency — and these lists are designed to support that mission. By highlighting employers who are leading by example, we hope to raise the bar and improve gender equality across all industries.
